This is a very frequently asked question. A person might need the certificate of citizenship or naturalization for several uses and might cause trouble if you happen to lose it or if something happens to this certificate. Many have the misconception that they can apply for a copy of the citizen certificate from the clerks office nut it is not so. A clerk's office is not responsible for issuing or providing Certificates of citizenships or its copies.

You would have to get in touch with the local office of The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. They would instruct you as to the procedures for getting a copy of the citizenship certificate. Otherwise log on to the site www.uscis.com or call at (800) 870-3676 or (800) 375-5283. The site would also provide you with the form that needs to be filled to get a copy of the citizenship certificate while the calling on the given number would help you to know how to procure the form and go about the rest of the procedures.

Yes. You have to file Form N-565 to get your lost citizenship certificate replaced. It would approximately take five months for you to get the new certificate.
