They didnt use soap. Instead they would just wash themselves and use clayblocks, pumice, ashes, and/or oil.

They washed themselves with blocks of clay, pumice, sand and ashes then anointed themselves with oil. Animal fat, olive oil, perfume, rosewater, ground pumice, and soft creams and lotions.

They would use animal fat soap oils and they used wine for  it germ killing ability
