Some key features are a view of Greece as the centre of the world and of civilisation - though Homer is more than fair to the Trojans. The values are often different from those of today, eg strength and cunning are regarded as virtues, even violence is good if exercised in the service of leader or country. The idea of an afterlife is also different, as in the Greek underworld the dead live a shadowy half life, however they behaved when alive - there is no 'heaven or hell'.
