There are absolutely loads of websites on the Internet that you can turn to if you want inspiration when it comes to writing persuasive speeches. I found this website www.best-speech-topics.com/persuasive-speech-topics.html by simply conducting a Google search. This page will give you loads of tips on how to write them and little examples that you can use and tweak for your own cause.

If you want to have a go at writing a persuasive speech yourself, then there are some things that you will need to do before you set pen to paper. Firstly, you need to have a true understanding of the topic that you are writing about, which is why speeches should be done well in advance with the proper research. Find a subject that you are passionate about otherwise this will show in your speech and your audience will get bored of you. Your passion, enthusiasm and understanding must be evident not only in your content but also in your voice and the way you talk about the subject.

You should also have or try to get a good view of your audience and what their perception of the subject is. This will help to give you a good idea of what their objections might be to your argument. Write down any that you can think of, get a friend or family member to help, and try to come up with responses.

Don’t ignore these obstacles. Acknowledge them and try to respond intelligently to them, otherwise you may be seen as ignorant. Countering arguments will only make your speech sound better.

Make sure that your last paragraph links onto the next one. This makes sure that you have some kind of order to your speech. Use linking words such as furthermore or however to let your audience know that you are moving in a slightly different direction.

Before you face your audience, practice your speech in front of the mirror or in front of a group of family members and friends to get you used to being in front of an audience. Discover your weaknesses such as do you say ‘um’ or ‘erm’ too much? Do you fidget your hands? Pinpoint these and then correct them before you take to the stage.

I wanted to find who authored a quote a found helpful for something I was writing, and ended up on Martin Luther King Jr website. I found many speeches that were inspiring and persuasive than the "famous one" we hear about, I think written the night before he was killed. There are good portions in about all of the ones I read.
