We may have evolved into what we are today, but scientifically it is not Darwinian evolution that has made man the type of person he is today. Prehistoric man was a lot more violent than we are, and through the centuries human life had little value. Even today there are parts of the world where that hasn't changed much.
There are those who will say it is the nature of man, but man is the only animals whose behavior is all learned. We are not controlled by instincts. We are a product of what we learn, and we have learned greed and hatred and dozens of other negative behaviors. We have learned to be the way we are. We have learned to kill each other, hate each other, and take advantage of each other.
The entire world hasn't gone bad. We hear about the evils in the world because that's what make news. We don't want to read about the good things people do. It isn't interesting enough. Maybe we'll live to see the day when it is.
