The sign of weakening of Political Parties are primaries. They allow the people choose who runs for candidacy rather than the parties electing them. With this, it gives the party lesser power because the candidate does not have to listen or obey along the lines of the party and decides amongst himself. That is why there is a rise of interest groups and factions that get things more accomplished rather than parties.
