Edith Frank, Anne Frank's mother, died of malnutrition and exhaustion in January 1945. On October 30, 1944, Edith was chosen to be in the group that was destined for the gas chamber but she escaped to another group only to die just twenty days before the camp was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945.
However, she was separated from her daughters, Anne and Margot, at this point as they were transferred to Bergen-Belsen and she never saw them again. Edith Frank was 44 years old at the time of her death.
