Is the President going to blow up the budget negotiations if the Republicans refuse to allow the government to tax us even more? Doesn't Obama not want to increase the size of the pie, but to redistribute the existing pie or a smaller pie?

I think the President's goal has been to redistribute the existing pie instead of making it bigger.Which is a shame as in retrospect he could have achieved both with more circumspect policies.He's eschewing the Clinton mantra of  " it's the economy,stupid " and trying to make America more equitable.Unfortunately, the President's mindset is that greater equality of income must come at the expense of economic growth.
