Born on 14 November 1889, Jawaharlal Nehru is the First Prime Minister of India. He held the office from 15 August 1947 to 27 May 1964. He was popularly called as Pandit Nehru and/or Panditji. Pandit word is honorific meaning Scholar and "ji" and at of Pandit is honorofic suffix. He was born in Allahabad and was the eldest child. His mother name was Swarup Rani and father was wealthy barrister named Motilal Nehru. Jawaharlal Nehru also served as Minister for Foreign Affairs for period of 15 August 1947 to 27 May 1964. He died on 27th May 1964 at age of 74.
