After slavery, African-Americans were forced to work on watermelon patches because they could not get jobs off some sort of plantation. Many African-Americans worked on these watermelon patches and the only food they had was watermelon. Watermelon was mostly water, so it was the perfect food to eat. Then a character called the Coon was created to make Black people look like lazy, idiots. The coon always ate watermelon and this is how it was created.
