I'm retired now, but when I was working we did a variety of things for the holidays. Just about every unit had a small Christmas tree, and each area would be decorated. There would be one big Christmas party off-site that any employee could attend. We also had a program called "Helping Hands". It was a way we would be able to aid less fortunate employees for the holidays. There is also an "Adopt a Family' program sponsored by our regional newspaper, and individual units might choose a family and provide some holiday cheer for a family that would otherwise have a joyless Christmas.

In addition each unit would have its own party, either on the premises or at a local establishment. We had a lot of seasonal employees who would be in non-work status at this time of year, and we would invite them to join in the festivities with us. As a manager, I would get a small gift for each of my employees, and we would exchange gifts at our unit party. We did not get bonuses, but we were given a half day off with pay, and if the holiday were on a Thursday or a Tuesday, we would be given that Friday or Monday off with pay. All in all, it was a lot of fun.

Christmas is one of the key festivals celebrated all around the world. My Company offers a special Christmas bonus every year. We usually arrange a party where all the employees are invited. Another special feature of this Christmas is that, all of us have pooled in for a surprise gift before the Christmas break. There would be a lucky draw and the person winning this draw would be getting some free shopping. The aim is to make it eventful and happy for everyone.

We were instructed to say "happy holidays" to all our clients, unless they used the "C" word first.

I work in a Bah Humbug environment, got the evil eye for putting a small string of lights on my computer screen. I've gotten a couple of people small gifts, a couple others a card, and for the boss a bag of coal (is chocolate).

The environment I used to work in was very diverse and spread out. My office is at my home and I would travel to client sites. I found that it was much easier to let the client lead the way on how they handled the holidays and from my employer, they really did not do anything. Some of the branch offices would have a gathering for snacks or something but very limited.
