Growing up I use to get so excited about my birthday as I knew that 'anything goes' and I would be spoilt rotten! But looking at what traditions we had, what we done every year without fail. I would say we always -
- Had the presents set out on the table so you saw them as soon as you entered the dinning room for breakfast.

- Had a badge with either your age or birthday girl/boy on it.
- Was able to get away with most things by just saying 'well it is my birthday.'
- Having a special evening meal either at a restaurant or at home.

- Having a special treat. Going out for the day, having a party or sleepovers were always popular.
- Seeing all the family
They held my hands and feet and threw me into the air (not letting go) and slowly laying me back on the floor only to do it again. You had one bump for every year and of course one for luck! I loved it, I would be in fits of giggles. Unfortunately there came a time when I was too heavy to continue this tradition, I will be honest I was quite upset. However, I did ask at my 30th if I could have the bumps and to my surprise my Dad said yes (he did have the help of my husband as well this time!) I was so happy and for that moment it brought back lots of happy memories of childhood parties.

It was awesome!
