I'm sorry but most of what she wears looks like it came from the Salvation Army store.  The media just raves over her taste in clothing.  Personally, I think most of what she wears just looks wrong for her build and the colors are awful to say the least.

I agree - the media is drooling over EVERYTHING she wears or does, but they are not being objective at all. Obama's style is all over the place and many things she wears are not flattering to her figure type. Laura Bush dressed rather dowdy and the media pretty much ignored everything she wore, and rightly so, Bush admitted she was not into fashion. The only truly fashionable First Lady was Jackie Kennedy. No one has come near her - despite the media telling us how fabulous Michelle Obama looks!

The comparisons for Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle O... None.

Mrs. Kennedy was 20 years younger than Mrs, Obama and about 50 lbs lighter.

Mrs. Kennedy wore impeccably fitted couture and beautiful jewels. Mrs. Obama wears ill fitting too tight marginal designers and big forgettable jewelery.

Mrs. Kennedy was quiet, reserved, hated politics and spoke 4 languages: English, French, Spanish and Italian. Mrs. Obama is loud, opinated, emersed im politics and speaks one language.

Just watched her in Copenhagen.  She continues to look like a secretary from the steno pool (all those sweaters over dresses, even to Buck House), unless she's wearing a prom dress (what was that gold thing yesterday??).   And that shiny yellow thing today, of course with a sweater over it.   Tacky.   She can look nice sometimes, but has no consistency and seemingly no sense of what is appropriate for certain occasions.  Embarrassing.   Geez, with the best in the world available to her, why would she not get help?   And for crying out loud, $500 tennies to a homeless shelter?   Talk about 1) insensitive and 2) money does not equal style.   Those were atrocious shoes.

Bottom line, she has bad taste.  And the stylists they have hired to make her "look right" have it too.  Did you catch Vogue Magazine where she wore the J.Crew outfit as she was lying down on the sofa....there I think she looked pretty.  Simple blouse, cardigan and tweed skirt in pretty melon colors.  But the cover photo was a direct copy of an old photograph of Jackie Kennedy from the 60's, right down to the pose, a sofa she was sitting on and the background showing a table lamp.  Let her own light shine.  She is no Jackie and she never will be.
It's all political comparing the two.

Awful awful awful.  WHAT is with the over-sized belts worn too high & tiny cardigans....gag.  I think she does her proportions all wrong.  Should wear structured, longer blazer & tapered skirt with loose scarf....

Oh, I am sooo glad to see someone who actually speaks the truth on this issue. Her taste runs mediocre to horrible in clothes. She was on the cover of Glamour mag (I believe was the mag) December issue. Oh my gosh, she has these terrible wing like gizmos flying off  her collar that extend inches out in the air. It drew so much attention to her figure flaw  which is bigger hips. Now, bear in mind, this dress was a bright red.She needed something more slenderizing that was fitted and tucked and then the red would look nice. There is this huge media push to present her to the world as "stylish... The new Jackie Kennedy".Pleaseee people,I may be a democrat ,but I got eyes in this head. This is only one of many fashion monsters I have seen this woman dress up as.

I don't really think she's pretty and I like how magazines are always classifying her as one of the classiest women in history, why do they do that.

I think that she has really really bad taste! I also think that he clothes are ill-fitting and not flattering at all. They pull and pucker in all of the wrong places! People have compared her to Jackie Kennedy! Are they blind! Jackie Kennedy was the epitome of grace and style! Michelle Obama looks terrible. She is the worst dressed First "lady"! Even Barbara Bush with the slightly matronly yet age appropriate style was better dressed! J. Crew is thrilled I am sure but I feel like Michelle Obama is doing a disservice by looking so BAD in there clothing!

She is obviously getting really bad advice.
Her sweaters are too short and tight and well, it is sometimes painful to look at her.
She needs a real stylist to help her dress for the camera and tv. She good look good with some advice.

I am so ashamed of most of her outfits. She looks ridiculous trying to dress like a baby doll and the clingy fabrics are so unflattering to her strong body. She is small on top and large on the bottom. She needs structured clothes that don't cling. Her clothes have no lines. The high waist and full skirts are especially unflattering. She is best with pencil skirt dresses and suits.
Should never wear clingy knits and thin synthetic fabrics. She is lovely and could bring so much dignity and elegance. She looks like a ten year old faddista.

She needs a stylist and also a coach to teach her how to carry herself and walk in a more dignified way. Being as tall as she is, and considering her build, she is dealing with issues that most women never have. Sleeveless garments and strapless gowns should not be worn by women over a certain age, it is not appropriate no matter how "fit" one might be. Furthermore, comparing her to other First Ladies accomplishes nothing. She is not a model or a socialite either, she has a job to do and needs to dress for the work she takes on. She will continue to make errors in her wardrobe until she gets professional help from someone who understands her figure and who can shape or refine her personal style. I saw a cover photo of her in a black and red suit that had a ruffle on the collar and down the front; it was truly flattering on her. I hope she wears it again.

Hi there! Well, I think Michelle is a pretty lady.....The dress she had on at the Ball------that white thing, I really didn't think it flatered her figure at all.....She had on this black and red dress day before the inauguration, that I thought was very pretty on her...love you! Cyndi

Liked her choice for the inauguration day , the ball gown was ok. She is a tall woman that is quite curvy, she has to be faced with some tough choices for her appearance in the future but overall I like her style. Her girls look good too.

Taste is personal.  She probably wouldn't like yours.  There's an old saying, very good: "De gustibus non disputandum est."  There is no disputing about taste.

Well it's nine months later and michelle continues to wear hideous clothes. Those awful belts make her look fat or pregnant. You would think that someone would tell her she has no style what so ever. When she travels overseas she is an embarrassment.

And you are right that her clothes taste matches her personality... Rude, abrasive, and a big mouth

I believe, her taste matches her personality, especially for a first lady. To me, it says she's different, ready to introduce new things. It's funny how everyone is eyeing Michelle's wardrobe, but didn't think twice about anyone else's since Jacqueline Kennedy's. That says a lot.
