I don't think so.

The UN may not produce the results we all desire as quickly as we would like, but it gives the world's nations a forum for discussing problems of many different types and even solving many of them.

I wonder if you can suggest an alternative that might achieve nearly as much?

Depends on what criteria you're using, I guess.

I would say, with modern communications, there is no longer any use for a gathering place for world leaders / diplomats.

Really, the only excuse for them to fly around the world now … is to visit new locations at taxpayer expense.

It can succeed, as long as delegates at the UN say that people are needed by planets and galaxies
