Damon Runyon once wrote, "All of life is 6 to 5 against". Those aren't such bad odds, though a little pessimistic for my liking. I think we'll be OK.

I had to ring my telephone supplier yesterday and got through to a very cheerful young Filipina. When she finished our business she said brightly, "Good bye. It's just 20 days, 6 hours and 21 minutes till Christmas." I've no doubt she expect to make it through to 2016.

I fully intend to be around so that I can smile with glee as I watch our president step out of office. That may be immediately followed by a scowl depending on how the election goes, but hey, one step at a time!
