ย It's the internet, if they don't like what people have to say then don't use it. People get butt hurt easily these days, And go way overboard about it. . im not sticking up for what she said, but rather, freedom of speech itself. people are gonna make it so that "free speech" will be a thing of the past. (people fight for it but when someone says something along the lines of what Roseanne said, they want to completelyย shut it down, people and their hypocrisy "We want freedom of speech but you can't say that, not at all"),

ย the Westboro baptist church is another good example. despite thier hateful message, i'd have to let them do what they do. and not protest against them to shut them up like soo many people do across america.ย

I think people need to think about the consequences of the things they say.

People talk about rights but not about responsibilities. People don't own what they say. They just pass blame off onto someone else.ย

They don't understand that "free speech" doesn't mean "say whatever you want whenever you want with no consequences whatsoever". The 1st amendment means the government won't jail you for what you say, it doesn't mean that you can't be fired from your job for it or get in trouble some other way. Companies and workplaces can set their own rules. If you walked up to your boss and told him to go **** himself, would it be against your "free speech" for him to fire you? No, it wouldn't, because you'd be breaking the rules of your workplace.ย

People talk about how "PC" and "offended" some people are but then THEY get offended by plenty of things. When they're offended, somehow it counts for more.ย

It's not illegal for Roseanne to say that a black person looks like an ape, but guess what, if the studio that she works with doesn't want to be associated with her anymore, they have the FREEDOM to cut ties with her. Freedom goes both ways, not just your way.ย  And the fact that you label an overtly racist comment like comparing a black person to an ape to just "not being PC" as if it were the same as not saying "happy holidays" shows that you're missing the point.

Anyway, I don't really see the point in posting here anymore as hardly anyone posts here anymore amid all the spam, and questions are just looking for people to agree, not have a real debate. I think I'm done with this site for good.

I donโ€™t really have any use for her to begin with. But, what she did was not good. True we have freedom of speech, but you canโ€™t just open your mouth and say something without it backfiring on you.ย  I do think if ABC is going to treat her this way, they should take some more out too.ย  Whatโ€™s right for one should be applied to all.ย  We all need to remember for every action there is going to be a reaction. In my option.

Barrโ€™s commentary was beyond politically incorrect, it was tone deaf, libelous and racist. Her words reflected badly on the network that WAS resurrecting her career. When we consider the current social climate, it was a really poor decision on her part.

What Roseanne did was totally wrong . She should of thought before she spoke on Twitter but she didn't do so. Experience is the best teacher and we all learn from experience. Now her show is cancelled on ABC WTAEย  and she has to look elsewhere to find a channel that will pick up her show which is most likely will be impossible for her and she will be lucky if any other channel will pick her show up for her.
