28th april
28 April is often referred to as World Safety Day, though the full title is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The same day is Workers' Memorial Day, and in fact the two events go together, as the Workers' Day is to commemorate people who have died through industrial accidents or work-related illnesses. Safety Day aims to highlight work-related dangers and minimise such deaths in future.
The International Labour Organization holds events to encourage safety at work every 28 April. Details can be found at safework/worldday/index
In many countries, smaller events are also held at different times and locations to promote safety in local communities. These are often held by police or other public service officials.
