Laissez-faire (or laissez-faire capitalism.) Translated from French this means literally "let do" or a better translation might be "leave alone." First named in the 19th century, this theory is also defined (by the Oxford English Dictionary) as "the theory or practice of governmental abstention from interference in the workings of the market etc."
