Like many European Countries, Germany is worried about the low birth rate, contributing to an ever increasing older population, who live on pensions paid by the present working population, which is shrinking, because the birth rate is low.
So every year, more older people need to be paid government pensions and have health care, while less people are paying pension contributions to the mandatory government scheme, because the working population is shrinking.
Other problems like the development of renewable energy, and the rise of neo-nazis, are also matters of concern for the German government at present. The government has undergone a lot of change under the leadership of Angela Merkel.
