Gestures vary from culture to culture. A gesture in a culture may mean an assertion and the same gesture in some other culture may mean a negation. For example, the nodding of the head usually means a confirmation but in cultures like Sri Lanka and Bulgaria, it may mean a refusal. Same goes with shaking the head from left to the right and turning the head from side to side. Gestures play a very important role in our lives. They do half of our talking. Whenever you are not able to speak or want to make things very clear, gestures are used.
