How could they eat potatoes when potatoes weren't brought back from the new world until around 2000 years later!!!!
They ate corn/grain crops mostly that they were pretty good at growing themselves (by this I mean wheat, oats, barley not corn cobs!) They made porridge and bread. They farmed meat from pigs, cows, sheep and wild deer. They ate eggs but not chickens. They ate vegetables like onions and nettles. They had fruit in season especially apples. They ate nuts and berries too when available
