Jimmy Carter was born on October 1, 1924. He is known to the world as the 39th President of the United States. He served the term from January 20, 1977 to January 20, 1981. He was born and raised in Georgia to a businessman.
He started his career as a Naval midshipman. However, he resigned after the death of his father in 1953 and took over his business. He became member of the Georgia State Senate in the year 1963 and in 1971 he became the Governor of Georgia. He campaigned for the Presidential position and was elected as President in the year 1971.
Jimmy Carter is still alive. In fact he is the second oldest living President of America after George H.W. Bush. He is an active humanitarian who is involved in peace negotiations, elections observer and a main voice on the Palestine-Israel conflict.
