The going rate to have the ex-President make a speech is approximately $100,000 to $200,000. This does not mean that you can hire him to sing happy birthday at your son's sixth birthday party. Not at all! In fact the President has been giving speeches on behalf of philanthropic and corporations.

The number of speeches he has been giving annually exceeds a dozen a year since he left office. The amount of money he had earned through public speaking from 2001 to 2005 was according to Hillary's Senate ethics report, in excess of $30 million. This amount has now supposedly increased to approximately $40 million. Most of his speeches are delivered in Europe or North America. He has also used his oratory skills in helping with the Presidential campaign of his wife and before her Senator John Kerry.
