There are many problems with society in Pakistan. The main and most recent issue is the finding of Osama Bin Laden in the country. Pakistan claim to have not known that he was hiding there, but this has not saved them from hostilities from other countries.
Although this is the case, Pakistan has many other social issues that precede this by many years. These issues are much more widespread and much deeper in the country.
They suffer from huge debt due to high military spending, a long war with India and the fact that their imports exceed their exports, means that they are losing money on a global scale.
There is an excessive population living off the land and this is ever rising which adds to the poverty in the country.
They have a poor education system where women are not educated and 62% of the population cannot read or write. Family planning is not taught so there is no birth control and an ever increasing population and there are no women in the workforce so productivity is low. Production levels are not what they should be for a country with such a large population, land mass and resources.
There is poverty in the country because other countries are not very willing to trade with Pakistan due to its uneducated population and workforce. Only 38 million people are in employment out of the 142 million that live in the country.
They have a dictatorship, and since 1999 there has been no parliament or constitution. This too makes other nations reluctant to trade with them. International support is always low for a country with a dictatorship.
