Because, before the battle, Germans were very close to Paris (Its outskirt) and if the Germans were able to enter Paris, all of the France were collapsed. On the other hand, English, was not able to fight with Germans alone at the period of time. In conclusion, the battle of Marne was the most significant event in the history of World War one.
