The Battle of Cold Harbor was fought between May 31 to June 12, 1864 at Hanover County Virginia. It is considered as one of the most bloodiest battles of American History as it resulted in slaughter of thousands of Union Soldiers by the confederate troops.
It is important because it resulted in the victory of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee and his forces. It was his final victory. But it caused an anti war sentiment in Northern States. General Lee was trapped in defending Richmond behind a fortified trench line. It gradually resulted in end of Confederacy.
