Is it reasonable to connect the decline of the British Empire with the decision to give women the vote?

Indubitably. It was the first step onto a slippery slope and the end of civilisation as we knew it. Women are to blame for all manner of things.

America's Republicans like to blame everything that has gone wrong in the world on President Obama. He's responsible for the world financial situation, ISIS, the downing of Flight MH17 over the Ukraine, and the earthquake that shook Mount Kinabalu. How short sighted of them! Any unbiased observer would realise that the blame lies solely at the high heels of that monstrous regiment of women.

Not only should we not have given them the vote, Ray, we should have classified them as aliens. After all, they come from Venus.

Sure. If you thought this was a serious question, or that my blaming the Kinabalu disaster on women was a serious answer, your comment was pretty funny. But I thought you were very restrained in only calling me a "flipping sexist". You could have worded it much more strongly. :)

BTW that "monstrous regiment of women" isn't one of mine. It's a quote from the Scottish theologian John Knox who claimed that "rule by females is contrary to the Bible". If you want to get your teeth into a real sexist, he wouldn't be a bad place to start.

You're intent on stirring the pot today.  Why don't you stick to Trump and that ferret that lives on his head?  Leave the UK alone we've got enough problems with "just call me Dave".
