The Congo War started of in the late 1996 and lasted till the year 1997. During this war what happened was, the Zairian president Mobutu Sese Seko was overthrown by the rebel forces which was backed by the other foreign powers like Rwanda and Uganda. It was after the President was overthrown the Rebel Leader Laurent Desire Kabila declared himself as the president. After turning president Laurent renamed the nation of Congo back to the Democratic Republic of Congo. However these events set the stage and foundation of the Second Congo War…which eventually began on the 2nd of August in the year 1998.
