As measured by polls of Americans yielding disapproval ratings, the most domestically unpopular past American president was Harry Truman, who peaked with a 67% disapproval rating. Second most unpopular was Richard Nixon with 66%, followed by George H. Bush on 60% and Jimmy Carter with 59%. Current president George W. Bush is up there in the unpopularity stakes, having achieved a dissapproval rating of 60%. He is also unpopular internationally as a result of the Iraq war.

Harry Truman's low approval ratings contributed to his being forced out of his re-election campaign in 1952 (he had become president in 1945). However scholars today rank him among the top ten American presidents, praising him for his honesty, integrity, political courage and firm stand for democracy after World War II. Whereas Nixon is viewed as being far more unpopular today due to his role in the illegal and secret activities that comprised the Watergate scandal, which first broke in 1972 and ultimately led to his resignation in 1974.

In my opinion Bush sr. & Jr. Are #1. These bastards both lead us to war in Iraq. They were the devils children. George sr. And his NEW WORLD ORDER and Bush jr.; didn;t even know how to wipe his ass. As far as I am concerned they should both be tried for war crimes against humanity and hung like Sadam was!
