Bill Clinton was first elected to be the Governor of Arkansas in the year 1972 and at the age of just 32 was the youngest governor ever in the United States. He was later defeated by Frank D White a Republican in 1980 because of the difficulties he had faced when in office.
In a matter of two years Clinton won back his office and became the Governor of Arkansas again in 1982. He remained the governor for the ten years that followed. His entry into politics had not been a simple and easy one. He had faced defeat early on when he had entered the race for the House of Representatives in the year 1974. His political carrier started soon after he became a law professor at the University of Arkansas. He would later go on to become the President of the United States.
